Robert was the seventh of eight children. All siblings and both parents proceeded him in joining their ancestors. In chronological order of birth: Sister: Viola, Brothers: Eugene and Albert, Sister: Genola, Brothers: Ben, Ezell and Lincoln. Robert was the second youngest child. Robert Lee, attended elementary school in Union Point Georgia. During this time in the South, it was common for African American elementary school age children; whatever their ages or levels were, to be educated under one roof. However, despite these circumstances, Robert went on to graduate from Union Point High School at the age eighteen. Robert always had an inquisitive mind often tinkering around with odds and ends. Moses was born November 6, 1937 in Chattanooga, Tennessee, the son of Charley “Charles” and Lily Belle Goosby. Moses owned his own business MIG Collision. He did Bumper & Body work and loved working on cars, that was his passion for over 60 years until his health declined. Moses was a kind and gentle soul.   Obituary for Rollie Claude Hanson The Life of Rollie Claude Hanson Rollie Claude Hanson was born November 30, 1939 in Rayle, Georgia, Wilkes, County to the late Ulysses Hanson and Georgia (Evans) Hanson. There he joined Lyonsville Baptist Church at an early age. At the age of 10, the family moved to Athens, Georgia where he attended Judy Jackson Harris elementary, Burney Harris middle and graduated from Athens High and Industrial School in 1958. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Army where he was stationed in Fischbach, Germany. On home from leave, he asked Donnie Mae Scott for her hand in marriage and they were wed on December 31, 1963 and were united for 56 years. From this union, they would have one son, Michael. In 1965, Rollie, Donnie and Michael moved to Atlanta, Georgia where he was employed by Ford Motor Company for over 30 years. Rollie was well versed and very good with his hands.   During the upcoming weekend, the Georgia Society of Sons of the American Revolution will sponsor the 242nd anniversary of the Battle of Kettle Creek-Revolutionary Days. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic most of the celebration will be virtual. With February also being Black History Month, Americans will celebrate the Patriot victory at Kettle Creek in all of its significance, especially with the knowledge that one of the heroes of Kettle Creek was a free black man by the name of Austin Dabney. Former Governor of Georgia George Gilmer would later write, “none was braver in battle than Dabney.” Enslavement was the legal status of black people at the time of the Battle of Kettle Creek, yet many, like their white counterparts, courageously fought for freedom from British rule during the American Revolution. Rashad Bolton great-grandnephew of husband of aunt of husband of 1st cousin 2x removed   Graveside services for Rashad Bolton, 29, were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 12, 2021, at New Tabernacle Baptist Church in Lincolnton, Georgia. He died Monday, January 4, 2021. Mr. Bolton was born on June 21, 1991, to Gerome and Lilvender Bolton of Lincolnton. He graduated from Washington-Wilkes Comprehensive High School in 2009. After graduation, he served four years in the U.S. Navy in aerography. He was a kind-hearted, fun-loving, and family-oriented young man. He loved his family, and they loved him in return. He was an avid sports fan, enjoyed reading, and loved to travel. Although gone much too soon, Rashad led a memorable life and will not be forgotten by the many lives he touched.
