She is survived by son, Mr. Amari Wingfield; four grandchildren, mother, Ms. Rose A. Wingfield; father, Mr. Joseph L. Wingfield, Sr. (Deborah); two brothers, Rune Wingfield, Sr., Joseph L. Wingfield, Jr., and a host of other relatives and friends. Family and friends assemble 10:45AM at Willie A. Jessie Hanson Hosch

Mrs. Jessie Hanson was born in Rayle, Georgia to the late, Oscar and Lucille Hanson. She was the eldest of all of her siblings. In 1943, she was united in marriage to Mr. Ervin Hosch. She leaves to cherish her memory; a devoted brother, Roy Hanson of Conyers, GA; one brother in law, Robert Moon; a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, church members and friends. She made her transition from Labor to Reward on April 29, 2020. Homegoing services are Saturday, May 9, 2020 at 12: 00 Noon from True Light Holiness Church, Rayle Ga. Watts Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Published in Athens Banner-Herald on May 8, 2020

GOOLSBY, GOULDSBY, ETC. Page from a dead link - not my personal findings. This report focuses on five generations of the Goolsby family from early Colonial times throught about 1800. Of particular interest is the link between the goolsby and Parsons families through the marriage of Alcey Goolsby and Joseph Parsons. Materials obtained are from two wources: A.B. Parsons, Jr. of Greenwood, S.C., and  Genealogy and History of Goldsby, Gouldsby, Goolsby-bee,etc. Branch Families,  3 volumes by Margaret Goolsby Gaissert, Sparta, GA, 1988-1992. THE FIRST GENERATION-- GOULDBY,JOHN  b.abt.1646 in Lincolnshire,England m.Ellen Golby? (1648-BY1685)about 1662. She was also born in Lincolnshire, England. She came to Virginia around 1669. She died in 1685 in the Colony of Virginia. John Gouldby was the first known Goolsby immigrant to Virginia. PASSENGER AND IMMIGRATION LISTS INDEX (1663-1679) by Filby, vol.1,pg 742. He has published numerous atricles on historical topics as well as several books on Southern history. Among them are "We Have This Heritage": the History of Wilkes County, GA Beginnings to 1860; "No Jubilee": the Story of Confederate Wilkes; "Confederate Imprints": a Bibliography; "Tigers": a Pictorial History of Washington Football; and others. He is currently completing a third work on Wilkes County history which documents the period from 1865 to 1945. This volume is planned for late 1998 publication. Since the earlier Wilkes County books are long out-of-print, reprinting of these works is also being considered. Nancy Cohen Gumby

2nd cousin of husband of 1st cousin 1x removed of stepmother & relative of mother When Nancy Lee Cohen was born in 1934 in Georgia, her father, Mitchell, was 46, and her mother, Estelle, was 26. She had one sister. She died on November 11, 2019, in her hometown at the age of 85. Notes: am saddened to announce the passing of our dear Honorary Board Member Nancy Cohen-Gunby on Monday, November 11, 2019. She was my inspiration for wanting to rehabilitate the 1910 Cherry Grove schoolhouse! At one time, she taught there. Not appointing her an honorary board member was not an option! But more importantly, forty plus years ago, when I first starting digging into the attics and cellars of our family history, Cousin Nancy was one of the FEW sources that I could go to: she possessed the depth of knowledge, facility of recall, and in the true Southern Tradition a penchant for storytelling.
