HUNTER, MRS. ROSE MARY

Age 80, passed away Sunday, May 13, 2012 at Avalon Hospice. Family hour 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 18, 2012 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., where the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. Omega Omega Service will be held form 1:30 -1:45 p.m. followed by The Links, Inc., Service from 1:45-2 p.m. with funeral service commencing at 2:30 p.m. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 1:30 p.m. Friday. Mrs. Hunter now lies in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 2-8 p.m. today. Mrs. Rose Mary White Hunter was born January 1, 1932 in Cherokee, Kansas to the Fletcher and Gladys White. Her early education was in the Kansas Public Schools. She later graduated from Kansas State Teachers College (currently Pittsburg State University) in Pittsburg, Kansas. Later, she completed her teaching certification from the University of Michigan-Flint in 1955. In 1955, she gained employment with Genesee County Treasurer's Office, where she worked 35 years. Rose was a member of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and The Links, Inc. In 1956, she married John W. Hunter and to this union two sons were born, Eric and Shaun. She leaves to cherish her memory: husband of over 55 years, John Hunter; son, Shaun Hunter; 4 sisters, Dorothy White of Kansas City, MO, Ann Louise Rose of Milwaukee, WI, Betty Noland of Lakewood, CO and Salena C. Officer of Gaithersburg, MD; 3 brothers, Wendell White, Billy Ray White and Fletcher White, Jr., all of Kansas City, MO; 3 sisters-in-law, Stephanie White of Kansas City, MO, Theresa Cousins of Flint and Leatrice White of Charleston, SC; 4 brothers-in-law, Harold Rose of Milwaukee, WI, Alvin D. Officer of Gaithersburg, MD, Fred Gaston of Sacramento, CA and Lester Wells of Flint. Mrs. Hunter was preceded in death by her son, Eric Hunter; parents, Fletcher and Gladys White; sister, Patricia Gaston; 2 brothers, Kenneth White and Donald Lee White; mother and father-in-law, Frank and Estella Hunter; sisters-in-law, Irma White and Velma Ruth Wells; and brother-in-law, Frank Hunter, Jr. The family would like to express special thanks to Avalon Hospice, Dr. Jagdish Shah, McLaren-Flint, Redwood Manor, friends, Addie George, Arlivia Henry, Paul and Arita Magee, special friend, Rayne "Little Girl" Magee.
