DNA & Our Family

In honor of Rosalind Elsie Franklin who was born today in Britain in 1920. I would like to share a piece of my dna in the hopes that it will encourage others to seek their biological makeup. As expected and as celebrated I am mostly African with bits and pieces from other continents (included) within my family tree.   My ancestry composition tells you what percent of my DNA comes from each of 22 populations worldwide. The analysis includes DNA you received from all of my ancestors, on both sides of my family. The results reflect where my ancestors lived 500 years ago, before ocean-crossing ships and airplanes came on the scene. These results are from a site called 23andme.com and are very similar and indeed more specific than the ones I received from Ancestry.com . This site gives you your haplogroup as well as matches you up with family members  based on shared dna. So far they...

We are up to 17,000 relatives on our tree!!!! Surprise! We are up to more than 17,000 relatives on our family tree. I guess anyone who really thinks about it will realize they have more than 17,000 people to which they are related. However, how many of those people have documented evidence, hmmmmm? Well, we do! Thanks to all of the people family and friends who have helped with stories, pictures, sharing their trees, and resources we are now up to more than 16,000 relatives, documented on the tree with more being added every day. Remember, we are always willing to add, edit and credit so get involved!

  Our family would like to take the time to send out prayers to not only our entire world family but to the family members of Trayvon Martin. While we acknowledge everything is in God's hands we also want to extend our love, prayers and spirit to you at this with what must be a sincere trial. God Bless you!

Our Oldest Living Relatives Sorry, I couldn't think of a tree connection to name this, I was going with rings around the tree but then that got ugly, so anyway here it is.
