Reba Wingfield

I thought right now would be the optimal time to write about my grandmother. Well to be honest I really don't have a choice, I am learning to always go with my gut, instincts, spirit. Therefore, here I am typing. Before I get started I want to say that it is my intention that publishing this information will lead someone to something better since this is the impact she has on me. My earliest memory of my granny Reba "Blessy" Lockhart Wingfield is of her braiding my kitchen. For those of you not familiar with the phrase "braiding my kitchen" it is the term that describes the braiding of the small hairs at the nape of the neck. DNA & Our Family

Image
In honor of Rosalind Elsie Franklin who was born today in Britain in 1920. I would like to share a piece of my dna in the hopes that it will encourage others to seek their biological makeup. As expected and as celebrated I am mostly African with bits and pieces from other continents (included) within my family tree.   My ancestry composition tells you what percent of my DNA comes from each of 22 populations worldwide. The analysis includes DNA you received from all of my ancestors, on both sides of my family. The results reflect where my ancestors lived 500 years ago, before ocean-crossing ships and airplanes came on the scene. These results are from a site called 23andme.com and are very similar and indeed more specific than the ones I received from Ancestry.com . This site gives you your haplogroup as well as matches you up with family members  based on shared dna. So far they...

Thanks to all of the people family and friends who have helped with stories, pictures, sharing their trees, and resources we are now up to more than 16,000 relatives, documented on the tree with more being added every day. Our Older Elders

Our Oldest Living Relatives Sorry, I couldn't think of a tree connection to name this, I was going with rings around the tree but then that got ugly, so anyway here it is. This is a series I will continue to update. Please don't be offended if I forget your great grand etc, all you have to do is email me @ farrelwebb@gmail.com, and I will update it. This is my way of reminding everyone to cherish people while they are here, and a way to help us all connect with each other just in case the our branches are a little hidden.
