His father died when he was young and his mother remarried to Joe Dansby. He married LILLIAN HEARD on September 6, 1924, in New York City, New York. They had two children during their marriage. He died on June 20, 1973, in Atlanta, Georgia, at the age of 75, and was buried there. The following tribute given by Hugh Gloster (‘31)President of Morehouse College from 1967–1987, was read at Claude Dansby’s funeral on June 22, 1973, at Friendship Baptist Church in Atlanta.
