Mrs. Jewel Lee - Age 67, passed away Friday, May 20, 2005 at Genesys Hospice in Goodrich, MI. Family hour 10:30AM Wednesday, May 25, 2005 at St. Luke Baptist Church, 821 E. Court St., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11AM. Pastor Orlando Goodman officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery G-9506 N. Dort Hwy. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30AM Wednesday. Mrs. Render will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd.,and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM Tuesday. Mrs. Jewel Lee Render was born June 10, 1937 in Odessa Dale, Georgia, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar and Rosa Mae (Jackson) Parks. She retired in 1985, from the IMA Food Service. Jewel was a former member of Order of Eastern Stars, Daughter of Marion Anderson Chapter #40. She touched many lives; she was dearly loved and her presence will be greatly missed. Mrs. Render leaves in God's care: mother, Rosa Mae Parks; her loving children, Johnnie Mae (Juan) Guerrero, LaBrentha (Everett) Cole, Stephanie and Charise Render including Geraldine Yearby; 4 grandchildren, Cameron Cole, Jewelesha and Jermaine Guerrero and Hans Jones-Render; 2 great-grandchildren, Joshua and JaDen Murphy; 6 sisters, Virginia Griggs, Francis Calvert, Rose Small, Lela Lovelace, Mattie Smith and Ola (Tony) Crawford; 2 brothers, Mack (Wanda) Parks and Bobby Parks; 4 sisters-in-law, Emma Render, Evelyn Strickland, Carrie Roberts and Julia Doby; 2 brothers-in-law, James Knuckles and John Shields, all of Flint; a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives including her best friends, Ola Riddles and Lydia Handley; and goddaughter, LaMonica Brooks. Mrs. Render was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie Render, Jr.; son, Arthur Lee Render; and father, Oscar Parks. The family would like to express special thanks to the St. Luke Baptist Church family, Restoration Outreach Center, the Genesys Hospice staff, and all of the volunteers for their tender care and support.
